This doesn’t work. As of WP 5.9.3 and the latest ACF on Apr 10, 2022, this code doesn’t work:
// WP_Query args fragment..
'post_type' => 'page'
,'meta_query' => array(
'relation' => 'OR',
,array(
'key' => 'page_sections_section_content',
'value' => "$SEARCH",
'compare' => 'LIKE',
),
...
);
My repeater rows: page_sections
My repeater rows: section_content
Any ideas?
Did you ever receive Help for this?
Thank you MH. This is so helpful!
Which precisely is the admin footer file which will retain this JS code even when I update core WP? I’d appreciate a precise name of the file. Thanks!
Where are you guys putting this script?
Or perhaps in footer.php? This is for the admin area so I’m not sure.
This is very helpful for now. Do you put this in your functions.php?
Elliott himself is looking into it based on a ticket I have created. Will share anything I find. It’s a most annoying issue as many of our authors use safari.
Same issue. Has this been resolved?
Was this ever resolved? I have 5.8.3 (latest as of today) and there’s no such magic in the conditionals: https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/blog/acf-pro-5-7-0-new-architecture-new-features/
What did I miss?
Using Classic Editor. No Gutenberg mess for us. Thanks for any pointers!
Was this ever solved and put into core? Don’t want to be mucking around with functions.php for this functionality. What we need is not a ‘message’, but a Relationship field for example to only show as readonly. Thanks!
Super. This echoes all my thinking. Love ACF! Thank you for taking the time to explain. Much appreciated!
I think I have another approach: flexible content. That kind of works. Any issue you foresee with that?
Secondly, do ACF fields themselves have shortcodes?
Found this Help item, but it doesn’t work. Nothing happens. Is there a way to call my_toolbars
in a specific custom field group?
https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/customize-the-wysiwyg-toolbars/
Thanks!
(Oops, I don’t know how to undo that ‘this solved my question’ thingie. Confusing.)
Basically, instead of a full Gutenberg style system, or a full blown page builder, we would love to have a few specific “Add Section” buttons on the content TinyMCE textbox, like the already existing “Add Media” button which is only for images. We’d like that kind of a button for ACF field-groups, I suppose. Is this possible?
No way should that idiotic plugin be used. Here’s what I found on one of my websites, echoed on a thread on that plugins WordPress forum.
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-never-deactivates/
Thank you John. I was hoping to have this as a setting, not stuff to put in my functions.php
file. Content should be separate from themes. Biggest mistake with wordpress world.
Anyway, thanks.
Thank you John. That seems to be code I’d enter in my theme (in functions.php
), which is a sad way to set up the base structure of a website. A classic WP issue.
I’d prefer to do this using plugins, so this core functionality doesn’t become theme-dependent. Can’t CPT UI and ACF Pro manage this simple things needed in any website other than a blog? Welcome other recommendations for a plugin. Thanks!
So be it. Thanks for the info. I’ll also post to WordPress support page just in case. Perhaps over time I’ll relent and finally take a serious look at the inbuilt Gutenberg stuff now in WP.
Writing to support has yielded nothing. This is to get their attention.
