I didn’t expect a reply to this old thread of mine, so the email notifications in the last few days were truly out of left field :-).
I barely remember the project I worked on when I asked about this and I seldom work on WordPress anymore, so I no longer have the need for ACF support on product variations. And considering the generally low impact this thread has had in over 2 years, I don’t see ACF focusing on it either.
That said, it’d be a nice feature to have since customizing Product Variations is a true pain in the neck.
Any updates on this @exnihilo_maxime ? Did you come up with a “final” solution by chance?
*huge sigh*
Nevermind. I didn’t realize that the site I’m working on (a project I recently took over) doesn’t even have PRO, but the free version. So I’ll be adding PRO shortly.
Small update: When searching for “acf_add_options_page” within the ACF plugin folder, zero results come up.
Has this function been removed!?
Your title-game is not exactly on point…
What I’m interested in accomplishing, is a side-by-side comparison of e.g. Product A, B, and C. These will all follow – with regards to specifications – a specific template in order to make a side-by-side possible.
And yes, I was hoping I could somehow use ACF for this.
Seriously, no replies at all!?
This is indeed a problem and I hope it’ll be fixed soon. I’m quite dependent on both PTO and ACF’s page/post objects. Interestingly enough, my problem didn’t start until I added a specific post type for the field, anyone else experience the same thing? Might lead to a clue as to what the issue is..
Then I must have done something wrong, because I couldn’t get it to work :/
I’ll try again and I’ll let you know.
Ok so, this is what I want to do:
I want to have a drop-down (<select>
) on the Posts > Add Post / Edit Post page. I want this drop-down to be populated by a <i>Repeater</i> on the Options page.
Essentially, I can then go to the Options page only visible to me, and using the repeater I can add Contact Persons for example.
Then, as a regular user adds a post (a press release for instance,) he/she can choose which of the Contact Persons I’ve added, to be visible on the press release itself.
Ah I see. That’s the problem then – I load the field within the Admin, so the code doesn’t execute… Is that possible to do?
This seems to do exactly what I need!
However I’ve done what the tutorial says (Example 2,) but it’s not working.
Is the tutorial meant for populating a drop-down on an “Edit post page”, or made for use on the front-end?
Edit:
Does the tutorial require that I include ACF in my theme, or can it remain a as a plugin?
Closing the ability to open a new support ticket during weekends is just silly. The internet does not close like a store or the old phone support. If you don’t want to see new questions during the weekend, there’s a simple solution for that: Log off. Turn off email notifications. It’s really simple.
Now I – a paying customer – have to wait until Monday to ASK my question, instead of merely waiting for the answer.
This worked great. I finally have a sidebar again after some 4 hours of ripping my hair (not really – i don’t have hair). So thanks!
While I’m at it though – is there a way of doing this more automatically? Can WP find the ID of the posts page instead of me setting it explicitly like this?
Ok so there you are using is_home() to find the homepage, but is there a similar function to find the posts archive page?
Thx.
Edit: Oh wait, my bad. Confused it with is_front_page() 🙂
