We too have this problem.
In core/relationship.php it appears that acf is using WP’s search (‘s’ parameter in a query) which searches both title and content. With hundreds of organisations having the word ‘support’ in their content it makes selecting the one organisation with title Support U in the normal way (just typing it into the search box) almost impossible in practice (though putting double quotes round the whole search term can help).
This seems to be the same problem that we found with Relevanssi Premium and ACF Pro (v5) a few months back – now showing itself with ACF version 4.4.1
The Relevanssi developer replied then see
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/backend-search-and-advanced-custom-fields-v5-not-working
which recommends some code to be added to functions.php
I have just tried that and it works for this latest version of ACF 4 too (i.e. using Relevanssi on the backend admin does not interfere with ACF listing relational fields).
Sorry, I should have said that we are running Relevanssi Premium 1.12.1
The bug doesn’t show with ACF 4.3.9. It does show with ACF 4.4.1
I have witnessed the same problem. Switching off Relevanssi backend searching makes the relationship field selection show correctly when editing a post in the backend.
We need this to work so have rolled back ACF.
Hi, do you have a date for release of version 5? Both the extension to comments as above and the possibility it might improve performance on repeater fields etc would be great for us.
Many thanks for just about the greatest plugin of all time!
This extension will be brilliant for what I need. Many thanks.
