I have a custom post type with a huge number of properties and its vital that users can safe as frequently as possible. Right now, as most of the fields are required, if they quit out of the initial posting before a successful completion of the majority of fields, even though an auto save lists the post all it contains is the standard wordpress title field upon editing it again.
I thought maybe a plugin or something in my functions.php was causing this so I installed the latest WP fresh with ACF and found its standard behavior.
Can someone please assist as im desperate to get this working.

That’s because WordPress doesn’t include custom fields in the autosave process, even when you use the custom fields box shipped in WordPress itself. This makes it impossible to update the custom fields on autosave. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

That is sad to hear, though maybe it’s time to change that?!
I mean, i’m sure that happens to so many people:
You investing some time on filling the custom fields up (in my case it’s about 20 fields in the product post type),
BY MISTAKE ;( you are pressing the “Back” button on the keyboard or accidentally close the browser, leave the page or maybe getting time out and just like that you have lost ALL the custom fields meta that you just inserted.
I think we do need a solution for that.
I have collected few other people that are having the same issue, i think we need to solve it once for all.
