Since updating to v5.5.9 a banner has been added asking to update the database. What are the changes that need to be made? I’m concerned because I have sites with different versions of WP and I want to make sure I’m safe with the update.
versions are – 4.5.2 and 4.7.2.
ACF seems to be working fine on both without the update though so I’m confused.

What version of ACF are you updating from=>to.
The last database upgrade was needed at 5.5.0. This update started using term_meta instead of options for storing custom fields for terms. The database update moves the values from the options table to the termmeta table.
Maybe that was the versioning was the issue. I think the last version was 5.4.x. I’m working on a system where I don’t have direct control over when plugins get upgraded. Thanks for the clarification.
