Using acf_get_fields to get Multiple Field Groups?

Is it possible to use acf_get_fields() get multiple field groups? It’s working fine with one field group and I tried to pass an array with multiple group keys but no dice.

I could put all of the fields in one group but in certain circumstances (custom post types, custom taxonomies, etc) I’m only using one of the field groups so want to keep them separate if at all possible.
