upgrading to pro version problem

  • When I install the pro version and deactivate the regular version all my field groups associated with Custom Post Types disappear and info that comes in from those custom fields is missing from the pages/loop output.

Is this normal. How can I prevent this from happening.

  • Hi @agon024

Have you upgraded your database? After you updated ACF to the PRO version, you should see a notice that asks you to upgrade your database. This page should give you more idea about it: https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/upgrading-v4-v5/#after-you%20update.

Please don’t forget to backup your site and database first before doing it.

    Thanks 🙂

  • I don’t get a notice on my site. Once I deactivate ACF and activate ACF Pro all I get is a message saying “Plugin activated”. I have even activated “ACF Pro” and then deactivated “ACF” and still no message. I have looked under the dashboard and even click “custom fields” on the left side to see if its in there, but nothing.

  • Hi @agon024

Maybe there’s something on your site that prevents the notice from showing up. In this case, could you please change the theme to one of the WordPress’ stock themes (like Twenty Sixteen) with only ACF activated? If the notice shows up, then you can upgrade the database and change the theme back and activate the other plugins again.

If still no joy, could you please open a new ticket and provide temporary admin credentials to your site? You can open a new ticket here: https://support.advancedcustomfields.com/new-ticket. Also, please don’t forget to backup your site, explain the issue again and provide the link to this thread.

    Thanks 🙂
