Should the slug names be unique for every field even if they are in different field groups?
I ask because I’m migrating from the Simple Fields plugin, I’m creating new ACF field groups based on the current Simple Fields field groups and I’d like to keep the slugs identical to avoid too much recoding.
In Simple Fields you can use the same name for different fields if they are in different field groups, can I do the same in ACF?

Yes, you can do that, but it’s not recommended. The reason is that there’s a possibility that you will use the field groups that have fields with the same name in one page. This will cause a conflict and confusion in the future. So I suggest you rename it, so you don’t have to deal with the issue in the future.
