Quite often we’ll find that we’ve setup a field group that has many fields which are designed for editing by less-technical clients, but one or two important fields which should only be edited by admins (such as ids etc.).
It would be great if ACF could let you specify which roles should be allowed to edit a given field. Prohibited users would be prevented from editing the field, but it would still save as normal.
Perhaps you could also have the option to hide these fields for prohibited users.
If you are using ACF5, there is a plugin that does this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-role-field-setting-for-acf/), or it can be using and acf/prepare_field filter https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/acf-prepare_field/
Normally you would put these fields in a different field group that is only available to admins, or whatever role should be allowed to edit them.
