Select in user profile not working with return format "array"

Hi

I’m using a select field on the user page. I would like to return both the value and the label. However, if I choose return format both, only the label is saved in the wp_usermeta database. Any idea why this could be?

ACF only stores the value of the field no matter what the return format is set to. ACF uses the field definition to return the array by getting the labels from $field['choices']
