save only one image size with the image field

Hi,
I have various image fields across my site how can I hook into the upload process so that for the “layout_1” image field only saves one image size and the “layout_2” image field saves a different size, avoiding to save all the thumbnails, medium, full sizes as they wont be needed.

any one has a hint on that?

Old topic but if anyone comes looking for similar information. There is not way short of removing the images sized from WordPress to stop it from generating an image of a certain size.
