Programmatically add layouts to flexible content

Hello, is there a way to programmatically add additional layouts to a flexible content field?

I am registering my flexible content field through PHP and there is a key called ‘layouts’ with an array of all the layouts. I would like to be able to add to this list when an event happens in my plugin’s PHP. Thanks in advance for any assistance/insight.

the solution in the article worked for me to programmatically add layouts to the flexible content field
