Print Related Post ID's to a Variable

Hi all, I’m looking for a simple way to print related post ids to a single variable so that they can be used to populate a post grid on the post template.

The post grid will work of an array of post id’s so I’m trying to check for related posts, write them to an array and then use that array as a variable which i can use within my page template.
