post object with multiple values vs. post object within repeater field

I have a question about post objects which may seem a bit academic. Anyway:

Is there any difference between using post objects with multiple values VS. single post objects in a repeater field.

I want to link several posts to a custom post and both ways seem to work pretty much the same: linked posts titles, URLs, even taxonomies are printed just fine.

As both methods seem to deliver the same results, are there any differences in terms of performance?
