parent child relation ship with differnt post types

  • is this possible? I see wp-types can do it, but can i do it with acf?

  • Yes, it is possible, but not with ACF. ACF is a custom field plugin. Types is more, it can also manage custom post types and taxonomies. I can pretty much say that ACF will likely never be extended to manage custom post types and taxonomies. Types will also do a few other things, they are trying to be more things to more people than ACF is attempting to be and do.

You can create a parent child relationship between any posts, including “Posts” and different post types. ACF can assist you with this. You can create a Post Object field that will let you pick the “Parent” post from any post type. Then you can create a filter using ACF hooks, for example the acf/update_value hook http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/acfupdate_value/ of the acf/save_post hook http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/acfsave_post/ and in your function update the parent post. You can then query these posts using any standard function in WP that deals with a post’s parent.
