Order by post's date and/or repeater date

I’m trying to create kind of an event calendar (yes, another one 🙂 ) and bought the repeater fields add-on for this.

I got it working somehow, but now I ran into a problem I can’t find a solution for.

I’m creating new Events using ACF. These events all have a field called “date”. Some events are recurring ones. For those I added a checkbox that switches on the repeater fields to add more dates (“recurringdates”).

Works fine and I also am able to display all the dates on my page.

But now the problem: let’s say an event started yesterday. If I order my events list by “date”, the recurring ones will not be displayed, as these values are are saved in “recurringdates”.

Any hints on how to order my events including the recurring ones?

This is quite a complicated scenario to which I don’t have an answer.
You would need to load all your events, and the ‘recurring dates’ for each. With all this data, you could append it into an array.

With this array of dates, you could then populate the event calendar.
