Number field dropping 0

I have a form for an address that’s using a text field set to number for the zip code. We’re discovered that any address where the zipcode begins with a zero, it’s dropping the first digit and only displaying the other 4 digits.

Has anyone else run into this? I’m on a major time crunch. If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be thrilled to hear them!
