Loading JSON files at theme activation…

  • Hi guys,

I’m a little bit confused by the new JSON functionalities.

On one install I collected all the json files within the acf-json folder.

On a new install (clean db), I uploaded my theme with the folder acf-json.

    I’m working locally.

Is it possible to automatically load the JSON files?

Or should I upload them one by one with the import menu?

These two sentences of the documentation, confused me.

The wp-admin field group edit screen will not load data from local json files. This functionality will hopefully soon make it’s way into the plugin.

During ACF’s initialization procedure, all .json files within the acf-json folder will be loaded.

Thanks in advance for the clarification

  • If the theme contains an acf-json folder, those files will be loaded and the fields will be available for use where the location rules apply, but the field groups will not be available to be edited through the ACF admin page.

If you want to be able to edit them then you need to import the fields with the ACF import tool.

  • Wow. I feel a little bit stupid that I missed that!

    Thank you John.
