Import/Export Problem

  • I had a developer create a WP theme for me and he used many custom fields:

    http://www.hypnosis4anxiety.org/

I bought a Pro one-use license for a new site. And I moved over the theme and re-created the custom fields via an export from the first site and an import to the second:

    http://experiencingericksonians.com/

As you can see the theme is there. But the fields are not. The fields look fine within the WP dashboard. That is, they are all there in the plugin menu (they imported fine). But they are not showing up in the new site. And I cannot save them or change them.

Thoughts? My developer is not responding to my emails and I am at a loss.

    Thanks!

  • Hi @ryannagy

Are the values of the custom fields showing up correctly on the backend (on your post/page editor)? If they are, it’s possible that the custom field keys are changed when you imported it. Could you please check the keys with the reference in the database? This page should give you more idea about it: http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/update_field/#finding-the%20field%20key

You can get the custom field key by enabling the “Field Keys” option in the “Screen Options” window. You can also find the custom fields values and its reference in the wp_postmeta table.

Don’t forget to backup your site first before checking your database.

    Hope this helps

  • Thanks! The problem turned out to be very simple. The original theme designer used page id’s and post id’s in the code and I had to change those numbers to the page ids and post ids on the new site.
