Import fields from CCTM

  • Greetings,

We would like to switch from CCTM to ACF.

We have a dozen custom fields generated by the CCTM plugin. The types are text, URL, and WYSIWIG (which is used for uploading files). Will ACF recognize them?
Is there a way to convert and import them into ACF?

We can manipulate the database and write scripts and queries if needed.

We also display our custom fields with CCTM template tags. That should not be too difficult to change on our templates.

I am mostly concerned about maintaining our field names, ids, metadata, and posts they are connected to.

  • If you create a field name with the same name and the data type and the way it’s stored in the database is the same then ACF will find it and you’ll be able to edit it in the backend.

On the front end there may be some issues with the display of the fields. To correct this you’ll need to add the acf_field key to the database for each field value. for an explanation of the acf field key db entry see this page http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/update_field/
