Image field only accesses "images"

I’d like to use the image field type to attach PDF files to posts and pages, but the field only shows “images” and does not allow me to select PDFs that I have in the media library. I’m using the plugin” Advanced uploader” which lets me upload PDFs and even give them a thumbnail. The thumbnail doesn’t show in the ACF field after uploading.

There is some kind of incompatibility here…

What is the best way to use the media library to attach single PDF files to my posts and pages?

I found the solution – silly me – there is also a field type for my needs that I had missed because my page was localised in German!
