How to add an "upload" button next to my url field

  • Hi there,

I wonder if it is possible to add 2 extra buttons next to my url fields (backend, on the post edit screen) in order to :

    – Open the link in a new tab if I click on the first button
    – Upload and attach to the actual post the media corresponding to the url

The reason behind it is simple : I want to have total control on frontend uploads, and instead of letting guests the ability to upload files, I prefer to give them several url fields in order to verify the media before they are uploaded.

Any help would be more than appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • You can do what you’re asking for, but you can limit the file field to specific file types. ACF also has hooks for custom validation of uploaded files if you want to do extra validation https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/acfupload_prefilter/.
