Gutenberg and archive.php

  • I have finally started making Gutenberg blocks with ACF.

Gutenberg with ACF seems to work well as far as standard posts and pages are concerned. Before, editors in Classic mode would use flexible content fields to add their content, now they can use Gutenberg blocks to do the same thing.

But, in Classic, I would add the same set of flexible content fields into Theme Options. These could then be used to add flexible content to pages that are not directly editable, such as archives. With Gutenberg alone, I can see no way of adding flexible content to archive pages. It seems that I need to continue using my old approach for archives, alongside Gutenberg for standard pages and posts, if I want all the same functionality as before.

I wondered how other people have dealt with this, and if there is any standard approach for dealing with it.
