Get a type select value and convert to time

Hi, I hope this is the correct forum to post in but please let me know if it isn’t!

I’m using a select type field for front end users to submit a time for how long they want thier posts to stay live on my site. I can’t use the jQuery time picker as my users will need to select a specific time in the future for example 30 minutes from now, 1 hour from now, etc.

I have set the select type up like this:
00:30
01:00
02:00

But how do I convert that to a time in the future, I need this as the output will then populate a countdown timer on thier post. I’m a beginner with WordPress and PHP, understand a little javaScript so really need some help and giudance!
