After working just fine for months, my client just informed me that his website is broken – the pictures are not shown.
PHP shows “illegal string offset” warnings.
When I var_dump the whole gallery, I only get IDs instead of image objects.
Has anyone an idea what can cause this and how to solve it?
There have been others that have had this problem in the past. As far as I can remember it is always a compatibility problem with some other plugin. I don’t have an answer for you but I have some things to check if you haven’t already done so.
What version of ACF is active? I’m unfamiliar with the Gallery field in ACF4. If you’re using 4 check the field setting to make sure they are correct.
Has anything else besides WP been updated recently?
Try deactivating other plugins on the site and see if that corrects the problem, maybe you can narrow down what you’re looking for.
Is the gallery field being used to create a gallery in some other plugin that has been updated? Maybe that plugin’s requirements have changed for what needs to be done in the code.
I disabled all of the other plugin except ACF Pro but nothing changed. I don’t thing anything has been updated in the recent days. No, no other plugin uses the gallery field.
I have ACF 5.3.2.2 and WP 4.4 installed.
What I also tried is creating a new gallery field in the same field group and when I added images to it, it works fine.
Any idea what can cause this?
Sorry for not replying sooner. If you’ve disabled all of other plugins and changed themes and still see this happening I’m lost about what could be causing it. You’re best bet would be to open a new support ticket
