Installed Pro 5.0.6 – set up options page (even with just the most basic command) – when I went to save page, it just kept spinning and not saving.
Have just removed Pro, installed 4.3.8 ACF and purchased the old options page add-on and all good.

Sorry to hear about the issue. It sounds like an error was preventing thhe validation from completing. Are you able to swap back to ACF PRO and open your console log to check for any JS errors / AJAX response on save?
Having the same issue after a migration to a new server. JS console shows no errors. If I try to edit the field group and change an input type a wild php error appears:
