Filter posts by custom field type "Post Object"

I’ve read through the Filter posts by custom fields article but can’t figure out how to filter by field type “Post Object”. Any pointers?

An example of what I’m trying to do is, I have CPTs “Project” and “Person”. Each “Project” has one or more “Person”s set using the field type “Post Object” and what I’m trying to do is filter the “Project”s by “Person” to be listed on each “Person”s page.
