Fatal error when ACF is used with Wildhorn theme

  • I have a fresh install of WP 3.8 and have activated a theme called ‘Wildhorn’ (by Mountainthemes.com).

I need to add some custom fields to my pages. How do I do this please?
I have used Advanced Custom Fields before on several sites to achieve this however I can’t install the plugin on this particular site as the plugin is already being used by the theme – when I attempt to activate the plugin I get an fatal error message:

‘Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_fields() (previously declared in C:\xampp\htdocs\thoetwo\wp-content\themes\wildhorn\vendor\acf\core\api.php:228) in C:\xampp\htdocs\thoetwo\wp-content\plugins\advanced-custom-fields\core\api.php on line 84’.

  • Hi @surfsup74

It is possible that your theme is including the ACF plugin files, and that the included version of ACF is old.

In recent versions of the ACF plugin, there is logic to detect an already included ACF, and to then not include any files.

If the theme version of ACF is old, this would explain why the plugin version does not detect this correctly and re-include itself.

Can you find out what version of ACF your theme uses?

    Thanks
    E
