empty field in wp_postmeta

I have two custom fields and when I create a new article if i do not writte in the custom fields the plugin insert 2 new rows in the table wp_postmeta
The rows have the meta_value empty

is it normal?
Can I delete the rows with empty wp_postmeta value?
