Date Time Picker 'Return Format' Not Working

I’ve had the ‘Return Format’ for the Date Time Picker set to Custom ‘U’ (Unix Timestamp) for ages without any problem but it has now started writing the date value in my wp_postmeta table in yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm format rather than as a unix timestamp.
I have just recently updated the ACF plugin so I’m wondering if something in the update has broken the custom ‘Return Format’ option.
Anyone else having any trouble or any ideas what else could be causing this?
