Custom WYSIWYG buttons?

Hello folks,
I have looked everywhere but couldn’t find any info on actually ADDing buttons to WYSIWYG ACF editor (or even better a single toolbar type) . There is info on removing default ones and creating different toolbars.
Is it possible through functions.php?
Is it possible through custom jQuery?
Is it even possible?
