Custom TinyMCE Toolbar via ACF breaks the Link button

  • I used this resource on the ACF site to create my own ‘simple’ TinyMCE bar.

The problem is, when you add the ‘Link’ button as one of the options, it doesn’t work. The little popup doesn’t even appear.

If I instead edit the pre-packaged ‘Basic’ toolbar to only have the Link button, it continues to function properly. It is only when I create a new toolbar that it breaks.

Has anyone else run into this issue, and is there a resolution for it?

Edit: After digging in further, it looks like custom toolbars don’t fire the WordPress core ‘wplink’ plugin for TinyMCE. I have no idea how to resolve that. More information available here.

  • Sigh. I am an idiot. Please close this topic. The problem was on my end.
