custom field into the url field but convert it to lowercase?

I have a custom field on a post named town and I fill it in with the town name and use that in various places on the page. So for example it could be London and I need the capital letter as that’s how it should be displayed on the page but when I create a link that goes to https://mydomain.com/London/ it’s no good as I need it to point to https://mydomain.com/london/ so I want to convert the contents of the custom field to lower case before appending it to an oxygen buttons url
