Custom Date > Current Date

Hi Guys,

I have created a custom post that allows the user to pick a date. This post currently belongs to the category ‘fixtures’.

I need to run a query that checks to see if the current date has passed the user’s selected date. If this is true, I need the post which holds this date to change the category to ‘results’.

Is this possible?
