Change the format of a select field.

Hi there.
When I have a post object field, and allow multiple selections, when you view it on an admin page it adds removable bubbles with each option and has an ajax search bar built in. Is there a way to have those UI components on a normal select field? Right now if I have multiple selections on a normal select field it just has a 5 row high select field and you have to CTRL+click to add multiple options which is clumsy.
