Cant change Select field Choices

hello,

A Select field type has several Choices that I entered but when I go in and edit text for these, Update, then check them on the Edit screen they revert to the -Select- or Null option.

If I change the “Allow Null” setting to No then I can edit the choices but I need to allow null because on the front end page it can display no option or empty on the template (sometimes required)

Please how can I use select field and update any choice text and have it simply update in Edit screen?
