Is there any way to incorporate ACF with BuddyPress Groups? I’m trying to add a sponsorship component to my BuddyPress blogs page, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I have installed another plugin called BuddyPress Group Extras that would probably work, but I much prefer the functionality of ACF.
Thanks in advance for anyone’s help!
Hi @jenkma02
I don’t have much experience with the buddypress plugin, but I’m sure I can still be of some help.
Can you define what a group is? Is it a post_type? What does it look like in the wp-admin?
Thanks for the reply, elliot!
I’m new to BuddyPress as well, and it hasn’t been the easiest thing to work with. Below is a screenshot of what the group admin page looks like.

Here is a link with an overview of what a group is. I’m sorry, I don’t think I could do a very good job of explaining it.

Hi @jenkma02
It looks very similar to being a post_type.
Can you use the location rules in your ACF field group to select post_type => ‘bbpress_group’?
I don’t have BBPress installed (I probably will eventually), but I think I found a way to get it to work. I installed the plugin BuddyPress Group Extras. When that’s activated, there are BuddyPress options in the ACF field group menu. I think the gpages option is the one that is going to work for me, but other options include bpge_gfields, bpge_fields_set, bpge_fields, along with the other options that were included before. I’m going to have to play around with it some more, but I can let you know how it goes. Thanks for your help!
hey jenkma02
How did you get on with this? I have a similar requirement. I need to be able to add custom fields to the buddypress groups
Hi, is there any news/updates on this?
