Best Practice: Save favorite post ids to user profile

Hello,
I want to give logged in users the opportunity to save their favorite posts as favs to their user profile. I thought about creating a user profile field “Favorites” with ACF – but how can I update this field from the frontend?

Hi,
I want to do nearly the same thing as @fountain using ACF.
I want my users to be able to put an event into a wishlist with some additionnal information.
I have read James link (and many others) but I did not succeed and I don’t know which solution could be better (post_meta, user_meta?)
Any idea ?
