It would be great to have the option to return oEmbed fields as data objects so that media attributes like width, height, thumbnail, etc can be used to inform aspect ratio of media container, etc.
I’m currently forced to use a standard URL field and then run it through a php function to setup the oEmbed data object. The downside is that the content admin doesn’t get a pretty preview of the media they just added in the WP admin. Aside from that it works great.
It would be awesome to offer the best of both worlds — flexibility of the data object to build custom iframes and wrapping containers based on media attributes, along with the pretty preview in the WP admin.
