ACF in Divi

  • Hi

I’m about to start the build of a website and am wondering whether to use the Divi theme for it or to create a custom theme.

Divi is the most cost effective way of creating the site, but there are elements that will need to be custom coded as they are beyond the capabilities of the theme.

What I am wondering is whether it is possible to use ACF within the theme, and ideally to be able to place them within the page builder as modules.

If anyone can advise if this is possible that would be really useful.

I’ve also read that there have been conflicts with the Divi theme and acf before. Is this still a problem?

    Thanks

  • As you’ve said, there have been conflicts, and other questions here about Divi and ACF.

The best answers to these questions will probably be found by asking the questions of the Divi theme support. While Divi does not call itself one, it is more of a framework than a theme. ACF fields will more than likely not work in the Divi drag and drop page builder and you’re probably not going to be able to integrate ACF in Divi without quite a bit of custom coding so you’ll need to know your way around the Divi code and hooks.

You can probably get help here using ACF, if you know where the ACF code needs to go, but you’ll probably not get much help here when it comes to Divi specific questions.

Divi is the most cost effective way of creating the site….

That really depends on what you need and what you’re used to. If something like Divi can give you want you want and you’re used to using it rather than building custom templates and building custom code, then this may be true. On the other hand, for someone that has never depended on a framework and has their own starter theme and repository of code to draw on, that statement may be questionable. ACF is probably more suited to coders.
