ACF disables archive page template

i have a custom post type called testimonials and an archive page with the code and layout . before assigning acf filed name to the post type the page loaded fine but once i assigned field to the posttype the archive-testimonials.php doesn’t load. instead it loads the default page.php or the page template assigned to it…plz help.

to the display content of the field on the page i put the code <div><?php echo the_field('testimonial');?></div>int he archive-testimonials.php plz correct me if i am wrong
