ACF Block Previews don't display post scope content from templates

If you use $post level content in your ACF block templates like the_thumbnail, they don’t show up in the block editor.

eg. I made an ACF block for an artist to enter information about their books that would automatically get arranged next to a photo of the book, it shows up on the front end obviously but is completely gone from the editor, assuming because $post data is not set.
