A complex project with ACF

  • Hello there,

I’m new to ACF so apologies if this is not the right section of the forum or your are not meant to provide such suggestions.

I’d like to manage a sort of complex site with ACF, having an anchestor node and a child node.

In theory the admin can create the anchestor, but then I need to figure out how creating a node in a way they can be independently added to the site but later linked to the parent selecting the value from a dropdown box.

Do you this is possible with ACF?

    Thanks
    Andrea

  • Hi @andreamoro

Sounds like you should use a custom post type that supports ‘hierarchical’. This will allow you to select a ‘parent’ and create parent / child relationships.

This is all part of WP and ACF will not be needed.

    Thanks
    E

  • Thanks Eliot,

Do you know whether some plugin can help me visually obtaining this. I’m not fancying in coding and I want a solution that I can handle to the owner without risking in further consulting bits.

He will manage entirely on WP and through the visual design.

    Thanks
    Andrea

  • Hi @andreamoro

I don’t know of any plugin which offers more of a visual ‘heirachy’ than WP itself.

    Thanks
    E
