Just so you know it’s something added in 5.2.9 as I rolled back to 5.2.8 and things started working as they should.
Problem: I could not save a post that has an ACF Post Object Multiple Selector area assigned to it. It would simply timeout and I would get a 500 server error. There would be nothing in the server logs and no helpful debug information.
Again, once i rolled back to 5.2.8 all was well.
I’m a little confused by your description.
ACF Post Object Multiple Selector area
Post Object only allows one selection. Do you mean a Relationship field or something else?
I’ve attached two screen shots.
In the second one, the Page title Projects. If I try to edit or save this in any way with 5.2.9 I get a server error.
The Multi select is on the Project Page
No problems with 5.28
Sorry, it appears I’m blind tonight. Of course Post Object allows more than one selection. I’ve tried this and I’m not seeing the same issue.
My guess is that you have a filter or an action somewhere that is causing an infinite loop. Do you have an acf/save post filter on the site? If you do comment out the add_action() lines and see if that clears up the problem.
There was a similar issue posted here http://support.advancedcustomfields.com/forums/topic/update-value-function-causes-timeout/
I’ve removed all my custom functions and it is still broken. 5.30 also has the same effect.
I’m still waiting on a resolution to this. @mmjaeger Did you get it figured out?
I don’t have this issue using the newest versions of WP and ACF. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins? changing to a default theme? Reinstalling WP and ACF? If none of this clears up the problem then you should submit a support ticket http://support.advancedcustomfields.com/new-ticket/
