Hey guys,
I just created a fresh environment with ACF 4.2.0, created a relatinoship field, saved some values, updated to 4.2.1, updated the post again, and all is fine.
Is there any chance that there is something that is unique to your installs?
DEBUG MODE?
Error during save?
Custom filter / action on the relationship field?
Hi, I have the same problem so I went back to the old version. I updated my post, recreates relationship, reinstall the plugin, but can not save the value of the relationship. the var_dump() function and print_r() returns an empty array.
I still don’t know what was causing the problem, but fortunately I’m early enough in production that I was able to just delete and replace the problematic relationship ACF and now it’s working.. not sure what that means.
@elliot Thanks for your help!
*I’m not using any hooks or filters that would affect ACF.
*Debug mode is currently off
*It wasn’t an error during save. I just updated to 4.2.1 and then went through the site to see if anything broke and noticed that all the relationship values were gone.
Other potentially unusual things:
*Windows Server
*The Relationship is a custom post type to another custom post type (Projects have many Wood Species, Door Styles, and Finishes). I believe everything still existed post-update, it was just the relationships that disappeared.
I’m having this problem as well, after updating I’ve lost lots of data in relationship fields.
It’s also a custom post type relationship field in a custom post type.
Please help!
Also I’m using a Linux server, and have tried disabling all other plugins but the problem still occurs.
Hi guys,
I think the issue in is the get_posts function in the relationship.php field file.
I had changed the args for post_type and post_status to ‘any’.
Is there anything special about your post types? Such as public?
I think the issue is if the post_type has the exclude_from_search option set to true
Hey guys.
I am confident I have solved the issue. I have pushed the file to github. Can you please download and install the latest ACF from github and let me know if this fixes the issue?

Thanks
