Thanks to both of you! I am not there yet to get too deep into code myself yet. I thought that this is a “basic” request and that its quite logical to provide this functionality out of the box.
Just makes sense to me, but perhaps I do not consider all use cases.
For now, I teach the client how to detach an attachment if needed. Perhaps I can get into it again in the future or a global setting will be developed for such cases.
Thanks a lot John! This kind of input is so much of value, as it’s important to know what to do before figuring out how to do it.
I discussed this with someone else as well and she suggested even a complete other approach by using WooCommerce attributes instead of CPT and instead of a custom taxonomy. Many opportunities out there.
Thanks for explaining
Thanks so much, John for this explanation. That was really helpful, as sometimes it’s about understanding the concept & basics before diving deeper into technical implementations 👍
I also noticed it’s probably not so convenient to show an archive of all authors from a specific country if the country is added as an ACF. So for that it would be also better to use taxonomies.
For my use case though, I might still go with the ACF field as it’s easier to handle for a starter.
