Working with fields registed via PHP

  • I’ve inherited a site where all the ACF fields are registered via PHP. In the WP Admin, there are no fields.

Since ACF GUI is so easy to use, I haven’t worked with the PHP registered fields before. For me, it seemed simpler to deal with multiple environments than it did to update sites with the PHP method.

But i’m not sure if i’m misunderstanding the whole thing. I’m not sure what to do with this inherited site:

    – Do I get the PHP fields into the GUI and remove them from code? Is that even possible?

    – Do I keep the PHP and add/modify to it as necessary? I understand how the code for how fields works but what is the recommended process?
ie – For new fields, do I create them in the GUI, export as PHP, then delete from GUI?
ie – For existing fields, am I just stuck coding them manually, or can I import them to GUI, modify them and then export back to code?

    Any help would be appreciated!
