Using a video from the media library

  • Hello everyone, I’m using the oEmbed field. Upload video from other platforms (e.g. Youtube) work correctly, but not a video from my Media Library.
On the frontend it returns me the print of a shortcode.
    Am I doing something wrong?
Does anyone know how to do it?
    Thank you very much.

  • oEmbed is a function that is only meant to embed media from third-party websites, i. e. it won’t work with local media files. There is a tutorial on how to embed own videos with ACF at https://speckyboy.com/html5-video-wordpress-custom-fields/

  • Thank you so much for you reply vipstephan.

  • I ran into the same issue when I tried embedding a local video using oEmbed. It took me a while to realize that it only works with external links like YouTube or Vimeo. If you’re set on using videos from your media library, it’s better to use a different method, like the built-in video block in WordPress or a custom field approach.
