Save Flexible Content layout for reuse

I think it’d be great if you could somehow save Flexible Content layouts so you could reuse them in different Flexible Content fields, wherever they might be. Unless there’s a way to do this already and I’m unaware?

Currently, this is possible if you export the field group to PHP and use PHP to re-use an array in the register_field_group code.

As for the interface, no, this is not possible.
