Required not working for text field

I have created a simple text field called “Author Name” for all post pages. I want a simple validation to check if the field is not empty before saving. I have set it as required in ACF and the markup was also updated to have the required attribute.

But the validation does not work and it lets the post save with an empty Author name which I do not want. How can I fix this?
